LG Rules For Madden 12 Online Franchise

BHML M12 Rules: MUST SIGN!!!!!!!!

General Rules

- Respect your opponent. This applies to all messages sent before/during/after games, as well as all conduct on the site in the forum and in chat.
- Owners found being uncivil to other league members will face suspensions and possible banning from the league.
- Communication: You must actively schedule your games asap each game week. Continual failure to do so will result in a boot.
- Forum activity: These boards will serve as a home base for all necessary league related information.

Offense Rules

- Mix it up. No specific passing play should be called more than 4-5x/game. Of course you can use variations of plays by using hot routes but calling mesh in 4 different formations over and over is NOT mixing it up.
- Goal line is banned outside of the opponent's 10. Because GL is overpowered in Madden you CANNOT under any circumstance call GL outside of your opponent's 10 yard line. This means it is banned inside your own 10 and for short yardage situations.
- Rocket catching is banned. Spec catches are fine but rocket catches (where the wr faces the QB and jumps straight up) are not allowed.
- Manual motion-based passing is banned. You may NOT manually motion your WR and snap the ball before he is set. This is a common exploit used in ranked but not allowed here.
- Unrealistic audible formation adjustments are banned. You may not call something like a 1 WR set and then audible to 4 WR snugs once you come to the line or vice versa. Keep it realistic.
- FB dives with the HB are banned. Under no circumstance can you sub in your HB to run a FB dive. It does not occur on Sunday so it does not occur here.
- No WR at TE or HB at WR. TEs may play WR and FB (if realistic). HBs MAY line up at WR if the package has it. This should be used in moderation, i.e. no more than 3-4x per gm.
- No autorolling with your QB. You may avoid a blitz but you should stay in the pocket at least 2-3 secs unless under immediate pressure.
- Manual motion on run plays IS allowed. The player does NOT have to be set before snapping the ball but MUST be outside the tackles.
- QB sneaks are banned until further notice. EA will likely tune this soon.

4th Down Rules

- You may NEVER go for 4th down beyond your opponent's 40 unless you are losing by 2+ scores in the 4th qtr OR 3+ scores in the 3rd.
- Anything over 5-6 yds is very much looked down upon unless in a desperate situation, i.e. down late or down big in the 4th.
- You may go for 4th and 2 or less inside your opponent's 40. This can be done the entire game, no matter the score.
- You may go for 4th and goal if 3 yds or less OR if losing by more than 3 in the 4th qtr.
- Fake punt RUNs are banned until further notice.
- Fake FGs are banned.

Defensive Rules

- Only 1 player may be moved presnap (and you must user this player to start the play). The ONLY exception to this rule is when coverage is not aligned. You may NOT bring safeties down into the box that you don't user. You may not attempt to overload 1 side in an attempt to get a nano. All presnap playmaker shifts are allowed.
- Mix it up. Don't bump every down; don't call the same blitz every passing down; You may, of course, stick to a base D but try to mix it up as much as possible.
- You may not manually adjust D-Linemen presnap. You cannot manually move a DE outside. Presnap dpad adjustments are allowed.
- Try to avoid committing pass interference. Madden simply does not call it, especially when it's user vs user.

Misc Gameplay Rules

- Backfield passes (HB+FB) should not exceed 40% of your team's total receptions for the season. Each week that this total eclipses 40% the backfield player with the highest # of catches on the season will be suspended for that week.
- No single backfield member (HB or FB) may have more than +15 receptions when compared with the top WR/TE on a team. Each week that a player eclipses +15 that player will be suspended for that week. Ex. Chris Johnson has 60 receptions but your top WR only has 40.

Mercy Contract

- If a game is out of hand in the 4th QTR (35+ pts) then the team winning should attempt to run out the clock. But the team losing should attempt to do the same in an effort to end the game asap instead of simply trying to increase stats. If the team losing fails to lay down and instead goes all-out in an attempt to score to increase stats, then the team winning may retaliate and attempt to score again. However, if you are winning big, try to be the bigger person and try to burn clock. But if the team losing decides to lay down at any point then the team winning MUST follow suit. (BREAKING OF THIS RULE WILL BE AN INSTANT BOOT FROM THE LG)
- Running up the score: The mercy contract comes into play in the 4th Qtr with a 35+ pt differential.
- Running back late INTs/fumbles for TDs is entirely up to you. You can return it if you want or go the sportsmanship route and run out of bounds.

Specifically Banned Plays

- Fade routes inside the 10 are not banned, but must be used sparingly. Do not use it every time you are in the redzone.
- Y-trail and its outroute cousin are not banned but very much frowned upon.
- In general, avoid calling money plays. Money plays are those that abuse a glitch or exploit AI.

4:1 Ratio Rule

- Every game each team must have 4:1 ratio for passing to running or face a suspension. This ratio does NOT apply to passing, meaning you can run 35x and only pass 5x.
- Games in which the score is out of hand early (28 pts at half and 2+ scores for entire 2nd half OR 21+ any time in the 2nd half) will be given leeway for running, meaning teams will not need to meet the 4:1 for such games.
